General regulations on the use of trucks with and without roofs
During the use of hooded and roofless trucks, drivers need to ensure the following regulations:
Regulations on the use of trucks without roofs
Regulations on cargo loading height: Regulated in Article 18 of Circular No. 46/2015/TT-BGTVT. Accordingly, roofless trucks must not exceed the prescribed height from the highest point of the road surface upwards according to each load level:
- Vehicles with a design load of 5 tons or more: Cargo loading height must not exceed 4.2 meters;
- Vehicles with a design load of 2.5 tons to less than 5 tons: Cargo loading height must not exceed 3.5 meters;
- Vehicles with a designed cargo load of less than 2.5 tons: Cargo loading height must not exceed 2.8 meters.
Regulations on load levels: The load must not exceed the allowable load of the vehicle according to the Manufacturer's design or according to the renovation design approved by a competent authority. If the vehicle is overloaded, it will be fined according to the provisions of Decree 100/2019/ND-CP.
Regulations on the use of trucks with roofs
For the roof cover, according to the provisions of Circular No. 42/2014/TT-BGTVT, the cover must be tarpaulin, the distance between two adjacent roof frames is not less than 0.55m.
In addition, like other types of trucks, open-top trucks need to comply with regulations on container structure, overall vehicle length, rear length, cargo height, and allowable load as prescribed. in Appendix II and III of Circular 42/2014/TT-BGTVT.
