Conditions for importing wood to Vietnam

  • If the type of wood you intend to import is not on the CITES list, you can make normal import documents like other goods;
  • If the imported wood is in group I, it is not allowed to be imported;
  • If the imported wood is in groups II and II, when importing, you must ask for permission from the Vietnam CITES Authority to be allowed to import.

For case 3, the Enterprise needs to send a set of dossiers requesting opinions on wood import to the Vietnam CITES Management Authority. When submitting an application, there are 2 cases:

  • Within 8 days from the date of receiving the valid dossier, the Vietnam CITES Management Authority is responsible for issuing the permit;

In cases where consultation is required before granting an import permit, the Vietnam CITES Management Authority will do so. Implementation time should not exceed 30 days.

  • The owner of imported wood is responsible before the law for the legal origin of the imported wood.

HS code of imported wood types

When importing wood to Vietnam, many different HS codes will be applied depending on the structure when imported. You can refer to some HS code groups of imported wood as follows:

  • 4407: Is a group of woods that have been sawn or sawn lengthwise, sliced ​​or peeled, planed or unplaned, sanded or end-jointed, with a thickness of over 6mm;
